We are a Google 5-Star repair and restoration business with specialized focus on guitars and basses. Like you, we’re players and collectors, too. We totally understand the importance of your instruments. We’re devoted to your needs. Hundreds of custom setups, electronics repairs, bridge and tailpiece restorations, fretwork and custom parts later, have been made for hundreds of clients and different applications. We also build custom parts. Mostly by hand. We know the details are everything. Having it be exactly as you need it to sound, play and look, is our only priority. If you have a new idea to add to your instrument that you have to have, we’ll make it or find it and install it. Like a kill-switch, customized nut, vintage case or a bridge that no one else has.

“Speed” is not just in our logo. It’s a critical part of what we’re responsibility. We spend time with you and your instrument when you’re in the workshop. No rush. Getting the work right matters. It’ll never just be a drop-off. We want you to describe it, and often play it, so we fully understand your instrument, and you. We don’t delay or stack up your project beyond what was promised.

We landed in Oyster Bay for good reasons. First, it’s set in a stunning location with easy access for those coming from the east or west. NYC is close, especially by train, which is a 5- minute walk from our workshop. The coffee in town is good, as are the restaurants. And, Billy Joel’s former motorcycle gallery is a block away. Very cool.

The Workshop

53 Spring..what was is now Vintage Classic Instruments. With a workshop full of machinery, that cuts, presses, drills, routers and paints, and beautiful hand tools tooling, we bring a blend of handmade and technology. The furniture shop that preceded us left behind workshop and creative energy. Only now, it makes instruments, and we’re the makers.

The Studio

Off in a quiet location two blocks away, the workshop’s studio is set up for guitar tryouts, still photography and video, and workshops. Away from the din of the workshop, it’s a perfect place for the coffee you missed in the morning and to make music. It’s the perfect getaway.
