About
We are a Google 5-Star repair and restoration business with specialized focus on guitars and basses. Like
you, we’re players and collectors, too. We totally understand the importance of your instruments, and
we are devoted to having them be what you need. While we’ve been a business for a few years, our
experience is vast. Hundreds of custom setups, electronics repairs, bridge and tailpiece restorations,
fretwork and custom parts later, have been made for hundreds of clients and different applications.
Mostly by hand. And, many with the help of technology making sure our cuts and shapes are exact to our
design specs. We know the details are everything. Having it be exactly as you need it to sound, play and
look, is our only priority. If you have a new idea to add to your instrument that you have to have, we’ll
make it or find it and install it. Like a kill-switch, customized nut, vintage case or a bridge that no one else
has.
“Speed” is not just in our logo. It’s a critical part of who we are and what we do. We spend time with you
and your instrument when you’re in the workshop. No rush. Getting the work right matters. It’ll never
just be a drop-off. We want you to describe it, and often play it, so we fully understand your instrument,
and you. We don’t delay or stack up your project beyond what was promised.
We landed in Oyster Bay for good reasons. First, it’s set in a stunning location with easy access for clients
coming from east or west Long Island. NYC is close, especially the train whose station is a 5-minute walk
from our workshop. The coffee’s good as are the restaurants. And, for years, Billy Joel’s motorcycle
gallery was a block away. Very cool, for sure.
“Vintage & Classic”
To us, it means “Traditional Roots mixed with Modern Sensibility”. Our favorite era for guitar building,
design and finding the balance between function and beauty, happened between 1952 and 1969. Gibson
and Fender were literally re-inventing this combination with every model they produced. Handmade
builders like the venerable John D’Angelico built what players needed, not only what designers and
machines could create. His exquisite guitars and mandolins were, first, a tool for those who largely made
their living playing them. With an L-5 in his mind and hands, he built his own version and set the jazz
world afire. Most every player had one. The great luthiers, from Jimmy D’Aquisto, John Monteleone, Cris
Mirabella honored his designs, quality and work ethic with every instrument. With no children or spouse,
they became his NYC, Italian lineage.
We are fortunate to have these guitars, including boutique and reproductions, pass through our
workshop and hands. We never take this for granted. Bringing them back to life however its player and
owner desire is a privilege.
